Full Description: Shalimar means ‘Nest of Love’; it is a peaceful beachfront oasis of three
luxurious self-contained villas, each with a private swimming pool located at
the traditional fishing village of Seseh, on Bali’s southwest coast. Designed by
the renowned Balinese architect Wayan Sukayasa, the Shalimar complex comprises
the 6-bedroom Villa Kalima, the 4-bedroom Villa Makanda, and the 2-bedroom Villa
Cantik. Guests may rent any one of the villas on an individual basis.
Alternatively they may choose any combination of two villas, or large groups may
wish to rent the whole complex with its grand total of twelve bedrooms,
accommodating up to twenty-four guests.
Shalimar is an ideal venue for weddings, parties and events, with the facilities
to cater for up to 200 people. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Indian
Ocean, the extensive flat lawns are bordered by towering coconut palms and
complemented by a white Palimanan stone stage, ideal for Balinese dance
performances, while also being the perfect spot for saying “I do”.
Shalimar is characterised by contemporary tropical architecture, open-air
living, an abundance of light, and the constant sound of the breaking waves.
Facing west, the rooms are designed to maximise the dramatic coastline views
enhanced by Bali’s legendary sunsets. The villas are bordered by rice fields,
and the world-renowned surf beach of Seseh is just footsteps away at the end of
the gardens. From here it is also fun to watch the local fishermen going out
every day in their colourful jukung outrigger boats.
The approach to Shalimar is by way of a country lane. Emerald rice fields line
the road as it meanders through an avenue of coconut palms. Colourful temple
ceremonies, together with farmers in conical hats riding rusty old upright
bicycles, are a common sight.
The gated entrance is heralded by stone pillars, waterfalls, and a serene Buddha
statue, together with a majestic travellers’ palm, lotus ponds, and
sweet-scented frangipani trees. Each spacious villa is set within its own
garden, and each boasts a private swimming pool. Common facilities include a
secure car parking area and a 24-hour staffed service area, complete with a
fully equipped service kitchen, laundry and villa manager’s office.
Villa Shalimar
Each home consists of a main house with a large open lounge area connected to
the kitchen and the open wooden veranda in the front that leads directly to the
pool. The house is 2 storey’s high and it has got an excellent all-around view
over the rice paddies in the back and frontal ocean front in the front. Two
bedrooms upstairs and two bedrooms as separate bungalows attached to the main
house. Each house has its own large pool with relaxing beds in the pool.
Villa Makanda
Four air-conditioned bedrooms positioned over two different levels, All bedrooms
have large bathrooms and all bathrooms have shower and bath tubs. A private
swimming pool of 9x20 metres and 1.40 deep at the deepest end. Large open living
and dining area (sits 12). Fully equipped open kitchen (meals are prepared at
the back house hosting a completely equipped professional kitchen). Plasma TV of
32 inch screen, DVD player, i-pod handler, audio system and wireless
internet connection.
Villa Kalima
This villa property has six air-conditioned bedrooms positioned over three
different levels. All bedrooms have large bathrooms. Downstairs the bedrooms
have showers and all other bathrooms have shower and bath tub. A private
swimming pool of 9x20 meters with a depth of 1.40 at the deepest end. In the
pool a wooden table at the shallow part of the pool with sun umbrella. Three
relaxation beds built-in within the pool. Large open air living and dining area
(sits 12). Fully equipped open kitchen (meals are prepared at the back-house
where there is a complete professional kitchen), i-pod holders, and audio
system.
Villa Cantik
Two air-conditioned bedrooms positioned over one level, Open air living area and
kitchen fully equipped. A private swimming pool of 7x9 meters. Large bathrooms and
2 shower in each bathroom. Fully equipped open kitchen (meals are prepared at
the back house where there is a complete professional kitchen). Plasma TV of 20
inch screen, DVD player, I-pod holder, and audio system.
